Q. Will I shoot better with custom ammunition compared with factory ammunition? A. Probably, as it is unlikely that factory ammunition will shoot as well as ammunition that has been custom built for your gun. If at 25 yards custom ammunition will shoot a 1-inch group and a shooters skill level has a variance of 1.5 inches, most likely the combination will produce groups around 2.5 inches. But if factory ammunition that shoots 3-inch groups is used by the same shooter, the combination most likely will produce groups around 4.5 inches, almost double that of the custom ammunition. At 75 yards, group sizes would be approximately 7.5 inches and 13.5 inches respectively, a huge variation that can make the difference between a clean kill and a miss or badly wounded animal.
Q. Why do you use a Ransom Rest for accuracy testing? A. A Ransom Rest eliminates the human element and provides a much better evaluation of a load. Our goal is to test the load, not our shooting skills on any particular day.
Q. How long does it take to get my gun back? A. Usually about two weeks, allowing for a week travel time (1/2 week each way), and a week for load development.
Q. Will you test my gun for accuracy using ammunition I provide? A. Yes, for $50, but only if it is new factory ammunition.
Q. How much do you charge for your services and ammunition? A. Ammunition prices vary according to the cost of components. We will quote you a price after you call us and we discuss your needs. If you send us your gun, load development and testing is $350, which includes the cost of components used to develop and test the load.
Q. When do I pay you? A. After you and we discuss your needs by telephone and you place your order.
Q. How do I pay you? A. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover Card, personal checks, cashiers checks, and money orders.
Q. Will you load custom ammunition for my rifle? A. We highly recommend Precise Ammunition, a company with a proven track record of producing exceptionally accurate custom rifle ammunition. |
